Six Square Feet…
As I sit on the ground and bring my focus to the space within two feet all around me, what appeared as a blanket of lawn as I walked past suddenly springs to life. I notice the browns, yellows, and greens of the “lawn.” It is no longer a blanket but an interweaving of single, pointed, blades of grass, rounded leaves of clover, clumps of dandelion leaves…I notice movement in the undercover and then a small insect climbs out into the light…
Bringing myself present in life, moving from thoughts of what is ahead in my day, week, month…or of what has been…I notice what I had not seen. I discover opportunities to listen, to hold a door, to assist a young mother off the bus…so many opportunities for kindness.
Taking time to notice
What is right in front of me
I discover unlimited opportunities
